What Does Spirituality Mean to You? A Modern Definition Beyond Religion
The term Spirituality has had quite an evolution of meanings over time. What does modern day spirituality look like?
The meaning of spirituality has undergone a massive transformation. If you’re ready to dive into it, you must begin with a basic understanding of what Tesla taught us about energy, frequency, and vibration. It’s more of a force—your emotional, energetic life force. It’s where science, psychology, metaphysics, and consciousness intersect, helping us better understand our life force and use it to co-create a life by design.
You are an energetic being in a universe that acts and reacts to every vibration you emit or receive from others. These vibrations arrive through thoughts, emotions, and actions—whether they originate from you or enter your energy field. The world you experience daily is heavily influenced by the energy you bring to it. If change is what you seek, it’s time to take control of your emotional energy. The energy you send out is the same type of energy you will attract.
It’s crucial to remember that it’s not about the words you speak, think, read, or hear as much as it is about the emotional vibration they create within you. That vibration finds a universal “like” frequency or a similar match and brings it back to you—just like how RF or FM radio frequencies work. Your human form is a powerful antenna, powered by the force generated by your mind. You send and receive signals through the noise every day.
These thoughts may begin as language, but it’s more about your personal emotional expression to and from the language. This is what creates the signal and its strength. Thoughts are things. All things have their individual frequency. Therefore, all thoughts exist on a frequency.
Here’s an example: Let’s say you call my name from across the room in a normal tone, loud enough for me to hear. I will likely turn toward you and expect to exchange a pleasant thought with you—one generated by you. But now, let’s say you scream my name from across the room very loudly. I will be on alert and expect something to come with anger attached to it. My emotion will match that expectation, and so will my vibration. This example shows that it’s not the sound of the word spoken, nor the word itself, but the way it was said that triggered a different emotional vibration within me.
Anger and other unwanted emotions may arise, but let them go quickly. Don’t dwell on them because what you dwell upon, you bring upon.
I’m sure you get the idea. Let’s get back on track.
The Evolving Nature of Spiritual Connection
Spirituality is about recognizing and exploring the deep, unshakable connection between your mind, body, soul (aka consciousness), and the entire universe. It’s not about following a pre-packaged belief system. It’s about finding your own path, creating your own belief system, and tapping into the energy that fuels everything, including you. This connective energy is what many refer to as Universal Collective Consciousness.
If you explore this concept with an open mind, you’ll find that the deeper you go, the more you’ll realize every moment of your life is tied to something bigger—a flow of energy that connects everything. Once you see it, feel it, or better yet, experience it, you’ll want to remain part of it, authentically and unapologetically. Here’s the deal: every thought, feeling, and action is an opportunity. You can either strengthen your connection to the bigger picture or let it slip away. The choice is yours.
Spirituality as Your Personal Power Tool
To experience this connection, you must cut through the noise, strip away the world’s expectations, and figure out who you really are. Spirituality is your power tool for aligning with your purpose and living a life that feels so real and true to you that nothing can shake it.
To learn to use this tool, you must first be aware of it. Then, you must experience it. Finally, you can learn to create with it. Using tools like meditation, mindfulness, and manifestation techniques, you can begin heading down the path to connecting with the Universal Collective and start co-creating a reality that suits your needs and wants.
This doesn’t mean life won’t throw you curveballs—it absolutely will. It’s about how you react to or handle those moments. That’s what changes when you’re part of that oneness. Many things that used to upset you won’t feel as bothersome anymore, and the tragedies of life become something you can handle. It doesn’t make them go away—it makes them tolerable.
Your Path Forward
Start small. Meditate for just five minutes a day. Try practicing Consciousness Without Thought—a simple mindfulness exercise that only takes a minute or two. Step outside and walk in nature. Find a sound bath near you. Pick up a book on the subject. Leave your phone in another room for a little while. These small, deliberate actions have ripple effects that create bigger changes than you might imagine.
When you wake up, think about the things you’re grateful for. Approach conflict with curiosity instead of reacting impulsively. End your day by reflecting on the energy you’ve contributed to the world. These aren’t monumental shifts. They’re small, intentional steps that, over time, can transform your life in ways you can’t yet envision.
Forget aiming for perfection—it’s a myth. Aim for awareness. It’s not about being right but about noticing when you’re not. Bit by bit, you’ll naturally start making decisions that align with your higher self. That’s the true essence of spirituality—living authentically, in harmony with who you are and who you want to become.
Spirituality is simply your connection with the Universe. If you feel you don’t have one, it’s not because you don’t—it’s because you’ve lost touch with the one you already have.
The good news is … it’s simple to get it back.
Be good to yourself. Always.
